From the questions I've been getting from concerned
residents, I thought it would be a good time to publish the following
information regarding absentee ballots. If, after reading this you still have
questions, please give me or one of my staff a call at 847-6791.
You may receive an absentee ballot if you meet the
following criteria:
1. You are a registered voter in the jurisdiction that
you reside in. If you are not a registered voter, this must be done 30 days
prior to an election. The date of April 4, 2005, is the last date you can
register in order to vote in the May 3, 2005 school election.
2. You respond positively to one of the following
reasons for requesting an absentee ballot. (These reasons appear on the
application.)
A. You are 60 years of age or older.
B. You expect to be absent from the community in which
you are registered for the entire time the polls are open on election day.
C. You are physically unable to attend the polls without
the assistance of another.
D. You cannot attend the polls because of the tenets of
your religion.
E. You have been appointed an election precinct
inspector in a precinct other than the precinct where you reside.
F. You cannot attend the polls because you are confined
to jail awaiting arraignment or trial.
3. You registered to vote in person (not by mail).
Michigan Election Law requires you to vote in person the first time, if you
registered to vote by mail.
4. You request an absentee ballot application, fill it
out and return it to the township hall by Saturday, April 30,
2005 at 2:00 p.m.
(for the May 3, 2005 school election)
There are 3 ways to receive an absentee ballot
application.

Temperance, and request an absentee ballot application. (Our hours are 8:00 am

2. Call 734-847-6791 and request an application. The
clerk's department will mail one out to you.
3. Click the image above and
